Ladders are used every day across industries—yet ladder incidents remain a persistent, preventable source of injuries, lost time, and citations. In this session, American Ladder Institute (ALI) President Mike VanBree walks safety leaders through a practical, repeatable approach to ladder safety training that goes beyond the annual toolbox talk.
Attendees will learn how to establish a ladder safety baseline; identify the most common behavior-based failure points (selection, inspection, setup/angle, climbing and three points of contact, and safe work practices); and create a training cadence that keeps safe habits top-of-mind. The session will also demonstrate how to use ALI’s free ladder safety training materials and tools to standardize messaging, document training, and reinforce performance in the field.
Participants will leave with a ready-to-implement framework for more consistent ladder safety training, including tips for coaching, auditing, and sustaining improvement over time.
