Proactive Design: Mitigating Ergonomics Risk Before It Enters the Facility
Approved 1
The best way to reduce injuries, especially work-related musculoskeletal injuries, is to avoid the introduction of risk factors into the workplace to begin with. By proactively engaging the engineers and design teams that are developing new products and processes, safety professionals can identify and either eliminate or mitigate risk factors before they enter the plant floor. In this seminar, we’ll discuss approaches for integrating ergonomics risk factors into your design review process, as well as the topics that should be addressed in workstation design. You’ll learn about the ergonomic risk factors that contribute to MSDs, how to use anthropometric and strength data for design, and other key design principles that reduce risk. You’ll also learn about controls that can be used to eliminate or mitigate risk. Finally, we’ll cover strategies on approaching engineering teams to communicate, educate and partner with them to reduce risk in the workplace.
